Transmission (2014)
An old room, filled with memories where music spills from the walls, a vintage radio broadcasts voices, memories, shortwave interference...Transmission is a collective audio-visual portrait distilled from music, sound and image.  It explores ideas of capturing and transmitting life story, music and creativity and was created in collaboration with elderly care home residents in West Lothian using an inclusive music making approach that incorporated accessible music technology as well as reminiscence. Niroshini then worked with photographer Anne Binckebanck and design/build company Old School Fabrications to realise an installation that celebrated the creativity and life stories of the residents.  Commissioned by Drake Music Scotland with support from the PRS Foundation for Music. Exhibited 2014-15 at Howden Park Centre Livingston. Elements of the installation shown at National Museum of Flight Airshow and Horsecross Arts' Perth Concert Hall (as part of the curated collective exhibition 'Old is the New Young)
